A Fresh Breath of Mountain Air: Introducing Swiss Pine & Eucalyptus with Pura x The Met
Sep 24, 2025

This holiday season, experience the majesty of the Swiss Alps—without leaving your living room. Continuing Pura’s exclusive collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Pura debuts Swiss Pine & Eucalyptus, a fragrance inspired by German-American artist Albert Bierstadt’s luminous masterpiece: Sunrise on the Matterhorn. The invigorating blend captures the cinematic grandeur of the alpine peak in one covetable scent that’s equal parts crisp and cozy, like fresh mountain air wrapped in a cashmere throw.
“The painting captures the dramatic contrast between the snow-capped mountain peak reaching skyward and the towering pine trees in the foreground,” says perfumer Stephen Nilsen. “I translated this visual experience into a fragrance by blending the balsamic, spicy facets of pine absolute with the cooling essence of eucalyptus to complete the composition. Creamy sandalwood and vanilla add a cocooning warmth, rounding out the scent.”
Every note is a brushstroke that recalls Bierstadt’s 1856 journey through Switzerland, where his fascination with the untouched wilderness inspired a series of sketches and oil paintings. According to The Met, the artist returned to the country multiple times between 1867 and 1897, each time chasing the otherworldly light that only the Alps can offer.
With Swiss Pine & Eucalyptus, Pura brings that same sense of wonder into your space. Designed for Pura’s smart devices, the fragrance transforms any room into a refined woodland retreat—one that feels at once restorative and radiant, festive and serene. Whether you need a momentary break from the holiday rush or want to add ambiance while entertaining, this olfactory escape makes home feel like the most luxurious destination of all.
